A Guide to Implementing an IAQ Program

Good IAQ contributes to a favorable environment for students, performance of teachers and staff and a sense of comfort, health and well-being. These elements combine to assist a school in its core mission — educating children.

Developing a comprehensive and effective IAQ Management Plan can help schools organize and implement their IAQ program.

Commit to and gain support for your program from school officials.


Select an IAQ Coordinator to oversee your school’s IAQ program


Gather information on IAQ in the school through research.


Review the IAQ Tools for Schools checklists and list identified problems


Identify, prioritize, and resolve problems, focusing first on health and safety and low-cost solutions.
